Climate Action Wenatchee

Help Us Save Our Beautiful Planet

     GREETINGS

My name is William Mark Lindstrom. I live in the Wenatchee Valley and have been a climate geek since the 90s. I’m also a retired teacher, parent, grandparent, and more. You are welcome to contact me. And I’ll soon get a chat room going here so you can interact directly with others if you prefer. I can be reached at 425-417-6460 or mark.lindstrom5@gmail.com

Bear with me as I construct this new site and I’ll try to reward you with increasing utility as we go…which could include your suggestions if you’re more savvy than I. Being an old dinosaur, I’m only literate with phone, email, and smoke signals, but I have a seven-year-old granddaughter for tech support and Inbound Wenatchee for web support.

Your content contributions are expressly welcome, including, yes, constructive criticism. Debate is always healthy so long as contravening claims are sourced. Unsubstantiated innuendo may be ignored or taken down in an attempt to stay focused on the site’s mission, which is two-fold: 1) To follow the ever-evolving science and 2) explore ways to connect with other climate activists regionally and globally so you can say to the world from your region, “Hey, I’m here, I care and can contribute too.”

And young people, you are explicitly welcome, as our degrading climate impacts you more. If you are not getting the answers you deserve from adults, don’t be shy. Look at what a young girl in Sweden has done by persisting. Google or YouTube “Greta Thunberg.” She’s now garnered 20 million followers. And at 72, I’m one of them.

At any rate, I’m here to help. With your busy life, you don’t have time to sort the daily onslaught of climate news but, as a retiree, I do. I’ll track it, highlight it, summarize, and include the original links should you want more detail on any particular topic.

SUNRISE

Concurrent to building this website, I’m also in the process of rounding up youth in our community to attend a meeting in late January to look at forming a Hub (chapter) of the Sunrise Movement. You may have heard of Sunrise’s rapid rise as the preeminent global climate advocacy group now comprised of thousands of members nationwide in 400+ hubs. While the upper age limit for membership is 35, Sunrise is primarily comprised of the 20ish. Might there be a message in that? Is it curious that no Sunrise hubs exist in our region within 150 miles? Is it time?

Google Sunrise Movement to learn from their website how dynamic the movement is in offering inspiration, education, employment and more. More can be learned here.

And Wikipedia offers a comprehensive overview.

Register yourself as interested in attending such a meeting (here) with your email and/or stay tuned to this site for notice of when and where this meeting will take place. Though I cannot formally represent Sunrise due to my age, the meeting will be attended by a Sunrise representative who will explain how to get connected.

And again … WELCOME. ML (Mark Lindstrom)
